The energy landscape is transitioning toward renewable resources to meet rising demand and net-zero targets. The intermittent nature of renewables, especially photovoltaic modules, necessitates deploying batteries with a long lifespan and high storage capacity.

WeCo makes a world of difference with its reliable lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries that have exceptional lifespan and storage capacity.

WeCo designs and manufactures LFPs using advanced electrochemistry technologies and the highest quality components in a budget-friendly manner. Users can install its green batteries with their new or existing photovoltaic systems along with a hybrid inverter to be immediately energy independent.

“Our exclusive focus on product reliability and sustainability gives us a leading edge in the lithium battery manufacturing market,” says Marco Falorni, sales director of WeCo.

A Step-Change in Renewable Energy Technologies

Building on over 15 years of unmatched experience in battery manufacturing, the Italian company serves the residential, commercial, and industrial energy sectors to meet all their energy storage needs.

Along its evolutionary journey, WeCo integrated lithium-ion batteries as the dominant power source in its product portfolio and developed its first dual-voltage lithium battery solution in 2018.

Its best-selling battery by far, 5K3-XP Dual Voltage, is the most advanced lithium module for home and industrial energy storage systems. It can be connected to low- or high-voltage inverters with a double circuit and an integrated battery management system (BMS) without accessories or special programming. Battery installation requires minimal equipment. A smartphone and basic tools can be used for set-up.

The key highlights of 5K3-XP are its compactness and modularity. It can be mounted on a wall or set on the floor for residential applications, or stacked for industrial and large commercial uses.

5K3-XP’s battery rack module is very flexible from a selection point of view. It can house up to 15 batteries in parallel connection for low voltage configuration and 17 in series connection for high voltage configuration. A combiner box is an essential piece of equipment, allowing installers to interface to the solar inverters and photovoltaic systems to achieve a massive storage capacity.

The striking advantage is installers and distributors need only a single type of battery to serve different market needs due to its simple and expandable configuration. Stacks of batteries can be connected in series and parallel for varied capacities, maintaining a lean inventory in their warehouses.

Boosting Long-Lasting Energy Storage

Turbocharging innovation in the lithium battery line, WeCo is set to introduce its 4K5 battery, the slimmest dual voltage module with a 10 cm thickness. It can act as a single module for low- and high-voltage configurations using a plug-and-play booster, and multiple modules can be connected in parallel. This increases the battery’s output voltage from the nominal 51.2 D.C. voltage to almost 450 volts.

WeCo has also developed a combination of lithium battery control systems, offered in various modules for diverse markets. The unique anode provides high discharge and charge currents, enabling superior electrical conductivity and chemical stability. Their special casing, measuring 580 mm by 463 mm by 155 mm and weighing 57.3 kg, allows for up to 15 modules to be stacked.

Driven by continuous innovation, WeCo constantly adds new capabilities to its battery frameworks to improve user experience. It strives to enhance the firmware and battery , ensuring product growth and user comfort.

5K3-XP’s firmware is designed in-house to communicate with various brands of inverters and connect with BMS boards, which have real-time control of every cell. WeCo’s BMS comes with a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module to communicate with its proprietary monitoring app, available on Apple and Android devices.

Users can remotely monitor and track information about the charge status, level of energy accumulated, and battery health. They can also control the battery’s functioning while away from home to ensure safety and save energy.

The app’s customer care center allows users to interact with WeCo’s support team for any requirements and queries. It is planning to introduce a new AI platform based on a self-learning algorithm, which will help customers better maintain batteries and optimize energy use and maintenance intervention.

Customer-Centricity is the Key

“Our expertise comes from deep insights into battery storage needs and being in constant touch with the end users,” adds Falorni.

WeCo’s success is credited to its skilled technicians, who offer best-in-class assistance in battery installation and support to installers and distributors worldwide. They set up, troubleshoot, and optimize the LFP battery systems. The WeCo team connects with end users through phone or chat service, making video calls and direct visits to sites for largescale installations whenever issues arise.

The reliability of WeCo’s batteries has garnered a repertoire of satisfied customers. It provides a 10-year warranty backed by a renowned insurance company. If it cannot replace a battery, the insurance company provides benefits directly to end users.

At the heart of WeCo’s manufacturing capabilities is its R&D centers in Italy and China. The R&D team offers personalized training sessions to customers, including distributors, resellers, and installers, so they can better understand battery manufacturing and use. They work handin- hand with marketing and sales teams to transform their market feedback into tangible product features.

Solving the Green Energy Storage Problem

A pioneer in lithium battery manufacturing, WeCo embraces the regulatory shift toward sustainability to create a positive impact on the environment. It is committed to investing in novel technologies to recycle, recover, and reuse raw materials from LFPs, paving the way for a more sustainable world.

“We believe lithium-ion batteries are the de facto standard for today’s energy market. Our deep concern is about the end of life of Li-ion batteries to ensure the dead battery does not become a problem, but an opportunity for industry players,” states Falorni.

WeCo collaborates with renowned universities and institutions to develop better industrial processes for recycling batteries. It enhances the lifespan of batteries, taking care of them from cradle to grave.

Apart from being a key player in Italy, WeCo aims to expand throughout Europe, in the Czech Republic, Spain, Poland, and Germany, and set its international footprint in the U.S.

A deep bench of technical wizards and state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities have made a name for WeCo as a reliable battery storage partner, powering the future of the green economy.
