A rising topic is the research around solid-state batteries, which will enable higher energy density, faster charging and more safety for EV’s and consumer electronics. The company’s ASC solution assists users in understanding the crucial parameters of such solid-electrolyte battery systems, e.g.: stack pressure, expansion and contraction of the materials and even the analysis of produced gases during cycling. Similarly, the FLC helps test catalytic reactions used to reduce CO2 emission or produce hydrogen—a technology that has gained significant traction in recent times.
Being researchers themselves, the team of Sphere Energy develops their products through the eye of the user. “That’s a key aspect to always serve the real needs of our customers. Our solutions aim for maximum flexibility in experiments and feature several functionalities, which allow the users to explore different combinations and settings for thorough research—says Luca Scherrer, Co-Founder of the company.
With our products, researchers can focus on conducting experiments without the need to develop their own equipment and obtain standardized data that can be shared with the entire industry
“We work closely with our customers, acknowledge their viewpoints, and develop solutions that have a judicious blend of reliability, great user experience, and affordability. That simply reduces the margin for error and researchers receive satisfactory results,” says Dr. Daniel Alves Dalla Corte, Co-Founder and CTO at Sphere-Energy. Moreover, as no two customers’ requirements are the same, the company continually pushes the research envelope by introducing the latest technologies and propelling the battery R&D industry to the future.
Sphere Energy’s collaboration with industrial research labs demonstrates the company’s ability to bridge the gap between fundamental R&D and applied research towards industrial scale and production. In one case, an industrial client did not have the specialized equipment required to test the performance of materials with regards to application in solid-state batteries. Sphere Energy delivered its packaged ASC solutions the client was ready to kick-start his material testing operations – being able to identify key performance indicators for his materials and judge potential application in solid-state batteries. To ensure that the client could reap the full benefits of the solution, Sphere also conducted one-day workshops for sharing knowledge and exchange of best practices with the researchers.
Even with successes in such endeavors, Sphere Energy is constantly on the lookout for technologies that would answer customer’s ever-changing requirements. With that aim, the company is making necessary arrangements to provide material testing services that would further enable the customers to invest their time in research rather than in the testing process itself.
