FREMONT, CA: iGas energy, a German plant engineering firm in the energy sector, uses Smap3D Plant Design to design and plan its efficient installations. Process engineering, 3D planning, and mechanical design are all integrated into this all-in-one software package.

For example, the Green Electrolyzer system converts surplus renewable energy into storable hydrogen via PEM electrolysis of water, which is regarded as an essential aspect of successfully implementing sustainable energy.

Smap3D Plant Design, implemented by the software provider of the same name, is used in the design and planning of these plants. “Thankfully, we have found a solution partner that has a proven track record of practical experience in plant design. This meant that challenges could already be discussed at a high level during the consultation phase and constructive ideas could be brought forward so that we could find the right solution for our requirements,” stated Dipl.-Ing. The 2D/3D plant and piping design software is based on more than 30 years of experience in building, process engineering, and pipeline manufacture, and it can be fully integrated into major CAD systems. The latter was significant since the plant maker emphasized its designers’ ability to operate in a single environment, which eliminates media discontinuity and lowers error rates. Furthermore, precise, thorough piping design is achievable, making the green hydrogen plant simple to manage and maintain.
“Our focus lay particularly on the introduction and implementation of the solution so that iGas energy could work quickly and productively, which not only benefits the business but ultimately also the environment,” stated Maxim Lich, CEO, Smap3D Plant Design GmbH. The software provider supported iGas energy with training for the designers and individual software services: Among other things, the supplied standard parts library and the already large selection of predefined industrial pipe classes for the 3D planning of the environmental plants have been expanded to include further required standard parts and corresponding pipe classes.
