FREMONT CA: According to the photovoltaic industry organization, the previous year witnessed the installation of more than twice the amount of solar panels, making it the best year ever for the Austrian solar business.
Bolstered by a burgeoning early hydropower boom, Austria owns one of the world’s largest shares of renewable electricity. The country's inhabitants and environmentalists are preventing new projects, so the focus of renewable energy policy is now on wind and solar. Previously, 740 Megawatts of capacity were installed, bringing the country's total up to 2783 MW, covering around 5 per cent of Austria’s electricity demand.

Similarly to the country's wind turbine rollout, the majority of new PV installations were concentrated in eastern Austria, with lower Austria hosting roughly one in every five newly built installations last year. The country’s installed solar energy capacity is anticipated to see a CAGR of more than 12 per cent by 2027. During the COVID-19 epidemic, there was a reported slowing in installations across the nation. However, the recovery was rapid and outperformed previous years’ installations in the same time frame.
The Austrian government has committed to installing one million PV systems by 2030 in conformity with the country's National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP), a significant increase from the Mission 2030 objective of 100,000 roof-mounted PV systems. The rapid technological advancements and increasing renewable energy generation will plausibly drive the market during the forecast period.
The market is predominantly driven by the rising demand for renewable energy, initiatives to reduce GHG emissions, and supportive government regulations that encourage the installation of solar panels. By displacing fossil fuels, the proposed new renewable energy law uses solar power to meet expanding energy demand. The Renewable Energy Expansion Law alone will not be sufficient to stimulate the deployment of solar energy. The electrical grid needs to be increased, enough space is required for the available solar parks, and the approval processes need to be accelerated. Consequently, the solar market is expected to benefit greatly from this factor.
